Only by Understanding the True Meaning of “But of That Day and Hour Knows No Man” Can We Welcome the Lord

--

Friends, let’s think about a question together. The Lord Jesus said, “But of that day and hour knows no man, not the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but My Father only” (Matthew 24:36). Then what is the true meaning of “But no one knows that day or hour” in this verse?

A. No one knows whether the Lord returns.

B. No one knows the day and the moment when the Lord comes.

The correct answer is B. Seeing this answer, you may be puzzled. Don’t worry. Read on and you will understand the true meaning of this verse. Only then will you have the opportunity to welcome the Lord.

Let’s first look at Matthew 24:32–36, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near:So likewise you, when you shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” These verses speak of the signs of the second coming of the Lord. “The Son of man” mentioned here refers to One who is born to a human and has normal humanity. Take the Lord Jesus, for example. He is ordinary and normal in outward appearance and He could eat, wear clothing, live, and act just like a regular person, but His essence is the divinity and He is the incarnate God Himself.

Therefore, in these verses, “it is near, even at the doors” and “But no one knows that day or hour” mean that no one knows the specific time when God becomes flesh and comes to the world.

Just as God’s word says, “At the break of dawn, unbeknownst to the multitudes of humanity, God came to earth and began His life in the flesh. People were unaware of the coming of this moment. Maybe they were all fast asleep; maybe many who were watchfully awake were waiting, and maybe many were praying silently to God in heaven. Yet among all these many people, not a single one knew that God had already arrived on earth.” However, it doesn’t mean that no one knows after the Lord has come to work and speak His words. For example, in the Age of the Old Testament, when the prophet predicted that the Messiah would come, at that time no one knew the specific time when the Messiah would come, but after the Messiah appeared and worked, people knew that He had come.

At this point, do you understand that no one knows the specific time when the Lord comes in the flesh, but when the Lord has come again and carried out His work, we will definitely know? Just as the scripture says, “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him” (Matthew 25:6).

Nowadays, many people are bearing witness online that the Lord has become flesh and come secretly before the great disaster, and that He is Almighty God, Christ of the last days. Almighty God has expressed the truth and performed the work of judgment starting from the house of God to thoroughly purify and save man. Hearing the news of the Lord’s coming, will you quickly seek and investigate and welcome the Lord like the wise virgins?
