The Truth Can Point Out the Direction and Goal in Life for Man

--

The Bible says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105). The word of God is the truth and can show us the way forward. Just like in the Age of Law, the mankind of that time was newborn, and they didn’t know how to get along with others and how to worship God. So, God issued forth laws and commandments, requiring people to honor their parents, not to worship idols, not to kill others, not to commit adultery, not to steal, and so on. All instructions of God to people are the truths. These truths allowed people to understand what sin is, what justice is, how to worship God, etc. From then on, people have had the principles of practice of associating with others and attending to affairs and behaving and treating others. Only if people act according to these commandments and laws can they gain God’s blessings and praise and be not condemned by God.

In the Age of Grace, the Lord Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind,” and told people the truth that they ought to practice, such as loving their neighbor as themselves, being humble, forbearing, and tolerant, and forgiving others. Therefore, people came to know how to love God, how to love others, forbear with others, and forgive others, and what should be lived out with normal humanity. Take the Lord Jesus’ disciple, Peter, as an example. He followed the Lord’s way, accepted His commission, pursued to love the Lord all his life, loyally served the Lord, and lived out a meaningful life; he finally attained full salvation and entered the heavenly kingdom. The words that God says in different ages, and His requirements of us are the truth that can show us the way of practice and point out the direction and goal in life for us.

God’s word says, “Whether the words spoken by God be plain or profound in outward appearance, they are all truths indispensable to man as he enters into life; they are the fount of living waters that enables man to survive in both spirit and flesh. They provide what man needs to stay alive; the principles and creed for conducting his daily life; the path, goal, and direction through which he must pass in order to receive salvation; every truth that he should possess as a created being before God; and every truth about how man obeys and worships God. They are the guarantee that ensures man’s survival, they are man’s daily bread, and they are also the sturdy support that enables man to be strong and stand up. They are rich in the truth reality of normal humanity as it is lived out by created mankind, rich in the truth by which mankind breaks free from corruption and eludes Satan’s snares, rich in the tireless teaching, exhortation, encouragement, and solace that the Creator gives to created humanity. They are the beacon that guides and enlightens men to understand all that is positive, the guarantee which ensures that men will live out and come into possession of all that is righteous and good, the criterion by which all people, events, and objects are measured, and also the navigation marker that leads men toward salvation and the path of light.”
