The Most Important Thing Is to Repent to God Now
In the face of the worse and worse catastrophe, all of us are seeking the way to attaining God’s salvation.
According to the Old Testament, when the sins of the people of Nineveh reached the eyes of God, God decided to destroy the city. But before the destruction, God sent the prophet Jonah to convey His words to the Ninevites: “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown” (Jon 3:4). Hearing the words of God, all of the people of Nineveh, from the king to the commoners, donned sackcloth and ashes, confessing their sins and repenting to God; they left their respective evil ways behind and abandoned the violence in their hands. Therefore, God retracted His wrath, showed mercy to them, and no longer brought down the disaster to destroy the city of Nineveh.
Nowadays, human beings are also evil and corrupt to the extreme. Even believers in the Lord often fail to practice the word of the Lord or to extricate themselves from living in sinning and confessing. Now, various disasters constantly happen to us. If we are to be saved by God, we must also truly repent to God like the Ninevites. Then how can we achieve true repentance and attain God’s salvation?
The Lord Jesus prophesied, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:12–13). “He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48). From this, we can see that when the Lord comes again in the last days, He will do a stage of work of judgment and speak words to cleanse our sins. Only by accepting the judgment work God does in the last days and casting off the corrupt disposition can we achieve true repentance and gain God’s protection amid the disaster.
