Is the Lord Jesus the Son of God or God Himself? Now We Have a New Answer!

--

It is recorded in the Bible: “And see a voice from heaven, saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17). The Lord Jesus also called God in heaven Father when He gave sermons to His disciples and said: “O My Father” when He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane. According to this, many brothers and sisters believe that the Lord Jesus is the Son of God. But all of us who read the Bible know that the Book of Genesis didn’t record that God has a Son, and Jehovah God never said that He has a Son when He did His work in the Age of Law. In addition, many verses in the Bible mention that God is the only true God. How could it be that the only true God has Father and Son? What’s on earth going on here? Is the Lord Jesus exactly the Son of God or God Himself?

To figure out this question, let’s review a story recorded in the New Testament together. Philip said to the Lord Jesus: “Lord, show us the Father, and it suffices us” (John 14:8); he thought the Lord Jesus was the Son of God, so he asked in this way. The Lord Jesus said to Philip: “Have I been so long time with you, and yet have you not known Me, Philip? he that has seen Me has seen the Father; and how say you then, Show us the Father? Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? the words that I speak to you I speak not of Myself: but the Father that dwells in Me, He does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me: or else believe Me for the very works’ sake” (John 14:9–11). It can be seen that the Lord Jesus didn’t show Father to Philip but said to him: “he that has seen Me has seen the Father” and “I am in the Father, and the Father in Me.” These words made Philip clearly know that the Lord Jesus is the Father, that is God Himself. There is no such concept of Father and Son.

The Holy Bible of the Kingdom Age says: “The incarnate God is called Christ, and Christ is the flesh donned by the Spirit of God. This flesh is unlike any man that is of the flesh. This difference is because Christ is not of flesh and blood; He is the incarnation of the Spirit. He has both a normal humanity and a complete divinity. His divinity is not possessed by any man. His normal humanity sustains all His normal activities in the flesh, while His divinity carries out the work of God Himself. Be it His humanity or divinity, both submit to the will of the heavenly Father. The substance of Christ is the Spirit, that is, the divinity. Therefore, His substance is that of God Himself …

From this passage, we come to see that the Lord Jesus Christ is exactly God Himself, which is to say, God in heaven wears a flesh and comes among man to do God’s own work in the flesh. Though the Lord Jesus is an ordinary person in appearance, He ended the Age of Law and opened up the Age of Grace, expressed the dispositions of love and mercy, and accomplished the work of redeeming mankind. In the meantime, the Lord Jesus performed lots of signs and wonders, for example, He resurrected the dead with one word, calmed the wind and sea with one word, and fed 5000 people with five loaves and two fish, and so on. All this utterly reveals God’s authority and power! From the work and word of the Lord Jesus, we totally can see that what the Lord Jesus expressed is the dispositions of God Himself and what God has and is. The Lord Jesus Christ is the vivid and lifelike God Himself, the appearance of the only true God!
