What Is True Faith in God?
Yesterday we discussed that because our motivation for believing in God is only to obtain blessings, when something that is at odds with our own ideas happens, we will complain to God and are even unwilling to attend gatherings and to pray to God — this is not true faith in God and such belief can not be praised by God. So how exactly should we practice our faith in order to be a true believer in God?
God says, “‘Belief in God’ means believing that there is a God; this is the simplest concept as regards believing in God. What’s more, believing that there is a God is not the same as truly believing in God; rather, it is a kind of simple faith with strong religious overtones. True faith in God means the following: On the basis of the belief that God holds sovereignty over all things, one experiences His words and His work, purges one’s corrupt disposition, satisfies the will of God, and comes to know God. Only a journey of this kind may be called ‘faith in God.’”
We can see from this that people who truly believe in God should bring God’s words into real life to experience and practice, and believe that everything that happens every day is ruled over and arranged by God. Especially when they encounter something that is at odds with their notions, they can come before God to pray and seek, reflect on and know themselves based on God’s words, and practice in line with God’s requirements, and finally, they can cast off their satanic corrupt dispositions and come to know God. Only this kind of faith is true faith in God, and only by believing in God in this way can we obtain God’s approval.
