Do You Know What Makes Wise Virgins Intelligent?
The wise virgins who can welcome the Lord’s return must have their wisdom. So what makes them intelligent? You might say that the wise virgins are wise mainly because they attend fellowship regularly, read the Bible, pray, and do many good deeds to help others. Is this view correct? The earliest Jewish chief priests, scribes, and Pharisees also read the Scriptures well, appeared pious, did good deeds, and prayed for others. However, when the Lord Jesus appeared and worked, they not only refused to accept Him, but also held on to their notions to resist and condemn Him, and finally nailed the Lord on the cross, committing a heinous sin. It can be seen that people who focus on praying, reading the Bible, and doing more good deeds are not necessarily wise virgins. Then what kind of people are wise virgins who can welcome the Lord? Take Peter, John and Matthew as an example. They paid attention to hearing the voice of God, so they could recognize the Lord Jesus as the coming Messiah from His words, follow the Lord, and receive His salvation. Only such kind of people are wise virgins. How then can we be wise virgins to welcome the Lord’s return in the last days?
Revelation prophesies, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door.” (Revelation 3:20). “ He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches.” (Revelation 3:6). We can see from these verses that the Lord will knock on our doors by uttering words upon His return in the last days and that only by taking heed to listen to the voice of God can we welcome the Lord. Nowadays, many people are testifying that the Lord has returned. Upon hearing this news, wise virgins are able to actively seek to hear the voice of God, and they can accept and obey once they recognize the voice of God. This is why they are capable of welcoming the Lord and feasting with Him. Those who merely focus on reading the Bible, praying, attending fellowship, and doing good deeds, who don’t seek or investigate when hearing the news that the Lord has returned and expressed a lot of words — these people are foolish virgins who can only be abandoned by God.
